CASE STUDY
Saizeriya Australia is a large food manufacturer located in the outer Melbourne metro suburb of Melton, in Victoria. Saizeriya Australia combine high quality Australian grown meat & vegetables to deliver frozen & chilled food products to restaurants and food service venues, to Australia and to Japan. Saizeriya’s EHS Manager, Tony Barnes approached Greenwire Consulting for a detailed energy audit:-
- to determine ways to reduce their electricity expenditure
- to increase the company’s competitive advantage, and
- to improve on the sites environmental best practice commitment.
Saizeriya’s philosophy is to build a long-term relationship with its employees, customers, suppliers and local community to ensure a win-win situation for all parties. They engage in ethical and sustainable practices to maximise the return to their stockholders whilst still maintaining healthy, high quality food products.
Energy Audit Details
The largest energy audit conducted by Greenwire Consulting requiring 3 months of investigative work. 14,500 sq m total was audited, a very complex site with a large variety of energy consuming equipment contained within the manufacturing plant. The Saizeriya Australia site consisted of complex mechanical, air-handling and refrigeration systems, together with boilers & compressed air systems. 30 of the most energy hungry 3-phase equipment were monitored for 3 months to establish a load profile & to understand how, why & when energy was used. The results of the audit were presented via a powerpoint slideshow and a written energy audit report submitted. Saizeriya’s EHS Manager Tony Barnes has provided a testimonial for Greenwire’s work for this project.
