NET ZERO Home – What does it mean?

‘Net Zero’, ‘Carbon neutral’ or ‘Carbon zero’ means no net release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere from direct fuel consumption. Your household electricity consumption creates CO2 emissions because your electricity provider utilises a portion of their power generation from coal-fueled power stations. Burning coal emits CO2. The process of burning natural gas supplied to your home also releases CO2.

Our Approach?

The overlying strategy is to understand your home & how you use energy, identify opportunities to reduce energy use through more efficient behaviour, improve energy efficiency of household lighting & appliances, incorporate optimal sized renewable energy sources and consider the option of carbon offsets in just right proportion to achieve a carbon neutral home outcome. Includes specific energy efficiency components;

  • review building fabric thermal efficiency,
  • check household appliance efficiency,
  • analysis of hot water, building heating and cooling systems
  • feasibility of renewable energy options investigated,
  • clever passive solar heating & cooling to reduce energy demand.

Each home is unique and so will require a tailor made Net Zero strategy that is sensitive to the home-owner’s needs & budget.
